Ann San

Independent candidate for Liverpool Wavertree in GE2024

โ My name is Ann San.

โ I am a mum, nanna and proud to be an NHS nurse working in hospitals and the inner city of Liverpool for the last 34 years.

โ I have witnessed first-hand the grinding poverty and deprivation that people in Wavertree have endured under Conservative rule and a negligent crisis ridden Labour Council.

โ Privatisation has left our NHS in tatters and resulted in waiting lists of over 7 million people, whilst fully qualified doctors are out of work and being replaced by non-doctors.

โ Waiting times at Accident & Emergency Departments are at a record high with patients being assessed in corridors – the result of a deliberate policy of closing 125 Accident & Emergency Departments and the closure of 25,000 hospital beds.

โ Our Health and Social Care services are at breaking point, with closures of care homes in the city with vulnerable residents being transported around like cattle to other homes.

We need to take back and renationalise OUR NHS from greedy profiteers!

I am standing as an Independent Socialist in Wavertree because under Keir Starmer, Labour will continue dismantling the NHS and privatising services.

โ Millions of us believe in an alternative to austerity. One that abolishes the two child benefit cap; builds Council housing: funds a fully-public NHS; brings about a National Care Service; invests in a Green New Deal and takes energy, water, rail and mail into public ownership.

โ We need high quality state education to ensure all have an equal opportunity to fulfil their potential without incurring the burden of debt. Education doesn’t end when young people leave school. Everyone should have the opportunity to learn new skills and subjects throughout their lives. Facilities for the arts, sport and leisure should be universally available and affordable.

โ It is shameful that the Labour Party under Starmer has given unequivocal support to the State of Israel which has unleashed the most horrific genocide against the Palestinian people. UK taxpayer’s money is used to fund the war against the Palestinians as Labour continues to cut the basic services we need in Wavertree.

โ The Council has cut youth services to the bone. Young people are our future and I’ll fight for more youth services locally and in parliament. I will continue to fight to reopen our One Stop Shops and hold our failing Labour Council to account.

โ With your support I will be campaigning for a financial settlement from the government that will provide the services and jobs we desperately need. I will be a visible champion for our community and hold regular meetings with constituents.

Politicians are out of touch with the grim realities facing the majority of people. MPs earn too much. If elected, I will be taking half of what they earn for my wage.

โ While private companies make record profits, more than 4 million children live in poverty. Our schools and hospitals are crumbling. A quarter of a million people are homeless.

If elected as your MP, I will continue to campaign for an economy that puts human need before corporate greed. An economy for the many not the few!

I will be working with other Independents across Merseyside and the rest of the country to bring about the changes we desperately need.
